December Member of the Month: Wendy Sanford

The Member of the Month for December is Wendy Sanford. After moving from New York City to our area, Wendy set out to find a fitness club that would help her maintain her active routine. When she visited The Chatham Club and saw the welcoming community, the excellent workout space, and the convenient location, she knew she had found the right fit.  Wendy has now been a loyal member for 26 years! From her early days of taking group classes to her current routine of training independently and working with a Personal Trainer, she has continued to maintain her highest level of fitness.  We are truly grateful to have Wendy as part of The Chatham Club family.

What do you like best about the club? It has a relaxed atmosphere for me.  The people are very friendly and have a real family feel.  You can come in and get a great workout and have time to socialize as well.  I really like that.  The Chatham Club has become part of my world.

What do you like most about Personal Training? I’ve been working with a trainer most of my time as a member.  After having a few different trainers, I have now been training with Jennifer for over 15 years and I love it.  I look forward to each session and to see what Jen has in store for me.  She knows me well and pushes me hard but is mindful of my limitations.  She tailors my workouts towards my activities and gets me prepared for each season.  It’s been a huge benefit.  I also love that she is always interested in how I’m doing even when we’re not in a session together.  She really cares about me as a person.

Any favorite exercises?  I love the Elliptical, StepMill, and bike.  For strength, I like using free weights, the Leg Press, Glute Drive machine, and the Adduction and Abduction machines. 

Any least favorite exercises? Abs!!

What do you enjoy out of the Club?  I enjoy playing tennis, golf, and I walk a lot.  I’ll play some occasional paddle.  I also love to ski.

Any upcoming goals? I like to keep improving my strength and add some muscle.
