Congratulations Sophie on being selected as The Chatham Club, Athlete of the Month for August!
Tell us a little bit about yourself…
). What is your name, what grade are you in , what school, what sport do you play, and what position? My name is Sophie D’Egidio. I am a rising senior at Chatham High School. I play soccer, and I mainly play in the midfield!
). What is your favorite thing about playing on your team and sport and school? My favorite thing about playing on my team is the atmosphere and family we’ve built throughout my years at Chatham High School. It’s a very tight-knit community where everyone supports one another. That support has helped us get through our toughest games and has played a huge role in our success both on and off the field.
). How long have you been training with Robbie? I have been training with Robbie for three years!
). Why do you enjoy training at TCC with Robbie ? I enjoy training with Robbie because of the environment he creates. Every session is high-energy, motivating, and full of people encouraging each other to get stronger. Robbie constantly challenges me to push past my limits, even when I don’t believe I can do something. He always emphasizes never saying the word “can’t” because it shouldn’t be part of our vocabulary. He has also taught me the importance of self-confidence and believing in myself if I’m willing to put in the work.
). What are your favorite exercises and why? My favorite exercises are sled pulls and the adductor/abductor machine. Sled pulls are challenging, but they always leave me feeling accomplished and have definitely helped improve my speed and explosiveness. The adductor/abductor exercises have also helped strengthen areas that became weak because of injuries. Robbie has helped me rebuild my strength while focusing on the areas that needed extra attention during recovery.
). What is your least favorite exercise and why? My least favorite exercise is probably Bulgarian split squats because they always burn, and I’m usually sore afterward, but I know they’re worth it!
). Have you seen any improvements in your strength, agility, speed and confidence to your training Absolutely! I’ve definitely become faster and more confident. I’ve also noticed improvements in my balance, explosiveness, and overall strength, which have made a big difference in my performance on the field.
). What are your goals for this year? My goals for this year are to improve my chin-ups and pull-ups while continuing to get stronger, faster, and more explosive.
). What is one of the quotes that you live by and why? “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.” I live by this quote because it reminds me that talent alone isn’t enough. Hard work, consistency, and dedication are what lead to growth and success. No matter how talented someone is, they’ll never reach their full potential if they aren’t willing to put in the effort.
