Athlete of the Month – Keira McManus

Congratulations to Keira McManus, our Athlete of the Month for January!

1). What is your name, what sport do you play, where, what position?

Hi, my name is Keira McManus! I’m a senior, I play Field Hockey at Chatham High School and I am a midfielder.

2). What is your favorite thing about playing on your team and sport and school?

My favorite thing about playing for my school is my teammates. I love how competitive we are and how we push each other to get better.

3). Why do you enjoy training at TCC with Robbie ?

I love training at TCC with Robbie because he has very high expectations and gives you the abilities to reach those goals. His positive training environment makes it easy to build my confidence and become a better athlete.

4). What are your favorite exercises and why?

My favorite exercises are Banded Box Squats and Glute/Ham Raises because I’ve noticed these exercises have really helped improve my first step and overall power.

5). What is your least favorite exercises and why?

My least favorite exercises are Bulgarian Split Squats and Box Squats because, even though they are very important for my strength training, they are extremely challenging and physically taxing.

6). Have you seen any improvements in your strength, agility, speed and confidence to your training?

Yes, definitely. I’ve seen clear improvements in my explosiveness, my first step, and I’ve become stronger in tackles. Training has also boosted my confidence because I feel more prepared and trust my ability to compete at a higher level.

7). What are goals for this year?

My main goal is to be fully prepared to play at the top level needed for success at college . I want to continue building my strength and quickness, stay consistent in my training, and grow as both a player and teammate.

8). How long have you been training with Robbie?

I have been training with Robbie for 3 years

9). What is one of the quotes that you live by and why?

“One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.” — Serena Williams. I love this quote because it reflects how I try to approach both training and competition. When I put in the work and prepare the right way, I feel confident in myself and my ability to help my team.
