Athlete of the Month – Kaitlyn Troiano

Congratulations Kaitlyn on being selected as The Chatham Club Athlete of the Month for October!

1). What is your name, what grade are you in, what school, what sport do you play, and what position?

Hi! My name is Kaitlyn Troiano. I am a senior at Kent Place School, and I play lacrosse as a midfielder! I am committed to play at Colgate University!

2). What is your favorite thing about playing on your team and your sport at school?

My favorite thing about playing on a team is the camaraderie and friendships you build with the people around you. I love working alongside people who share the same goals, want to improve, and push each other to get better every day.

3). Why do you enjoy training at TCC with Robbie?

I enjoy training at TCC with Robbie because of the competitive and supportive atmosphere. Robbie pushes me to be the best version of myself, even on days when I don’t think I have it in me. I have never walked out of a training session wishing I had been doing something else, and over the past two years I have improved both as a person and an athlete.

4). What are your favorite exercises and why?

My favorite exercises are probably chin-ups or pull-ups because they are where I have seen some of my biggest improvements. They are always challenging, but I like being able to see how much stronger I have gotten and I always feel good about myself after I do them.

5). What are your least favorite exercises and why?

My least favorite exercises have to be hollow holds. Recently, I feel like I have been doing more and more of them, and they challenge me both mentally and physically. I usually have to distract myself to get through them, so I like to pretend I’m lying on the beach or tanning instead!

6). Have you seen any improvements in your strength, agility, speed, and confidence from your training?

YES! I am so much stronger in my knees and my core which contributes to more fluidity in my movements. On the field, I have noticed a huge improvement in my ability to change speed and direction more quickly and efficiently. I have also become much more confident in my strength and abilities overall.

7). What are your goals for this year?
My biggest goal this year is to continue to bring the momentum and energy from last season both on and off the field and be able to leave high school as the best and strongest version of myself.

8). How long have you been training with Robbie?

I have been training with Robbie for two years!

9). What is one of the quotes that you live by and why?“Pressure is a privilege.” A coach told me this before a game when I was nervous and it has stuck with me ever since. I like to remind myself of this when I am not very motivated or are tired.  Having pressure means that I have the opportunity to compete, improve, and be surrounded by people who want to get better every day. That is something I have learned to not take for granted, and it helps motivate me to get up and put in the work even on the harder days.
