Athlete of the Month – Daryn Foertsch

Our Athlete of the Month for July is Daryn Foertsch.

Daryn graduated from Chatham High School and is going to play lacrosse at Franklin & Marshall this fall. She loves being part of a team because, “you always have people around you, pushing you to be better and supporting you along the way.”

Daryn has been training with Michael for the past 8 months and enjoys each session because “he pushes me to keep getting stronger; but at the same time we have fun.”

One of the quotes I live by is, “Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing” —Laurie Buchanan. I like this quote because it shows that if you don’t put in the work to change something you are dissatisfied with, you are passively accepting it.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

1). What sport do you play, what position, and for what team?

I played lacrosse at Chatham High School and I’m going to play at Franklin and Marshall college. I’m a defender.

2). What is your favorite thing about playing a sport for your school?

I love being a part of a team because you always have people around you pushing you to be better, supporting you, and building you up.

3). How long have you been training with Michael?

I have been training with Michael for 8 months

4). Why do you enjoy training at TCC with Michael?

I enjoy training with Michael because I know I will always get a great workout in and he is going to push me to keep getting stronger and at the same time we have fun doing it with many dance parties.

5). What are your favorite exercises and why?

My favorite is box squats. I love this because it’s less reps but more weight so I can really push myself on how much I’m lifting

6). What is your least favorite exercise and why?

My least favorite exercise is glider hamstring curls. This is my least favorite because your legs burn and cramp up from the repetitive motion.

7). Have you seen any improvements in your strength, agility, speed and confidence to your training?

I think I have gotten so much stronger in all aspects of my training but especially my overall strength. I can lift much more weight than when I started training sessions. I have also gained so much more confidence in the gym and this has allowed me to be able to exercise more by myself as well.

8). What are your goals for this year?

My goals for this year are to keep building up my arm muscles; and keep getting faster and stronger overall.

Thanks Daryn!  Keep up the great work!
