Athlete of the Month – Ashley Kiernan

Our Athlete of the Month for October is Ashley Kiernan

Ashley plays attack position on the Yale Women’s Lacrosse Team. She has been training with Coach Robbie at The Chatham Club for almost 4 years. Ashley shared that he has helped me get stronger, faster, and taught me how to change direction more efficiently when running. Ashley’s favorite quote is, “Pain is weakness leaving the body” because it helps to adopt a strong mindset.

What is your name, what sport do you play, where, what position?

My name is Ashley Kiernan and I play attack on the Yale Women’s Lacrosse Team.

How long have you been training with Robbie?

I have been training with Robbie for almost 4 years.

What is your favorite thing about playing on your team and lacrosse at school?

My favorite thing about playing lacrosse at Yale is my teammates. I love practicing with them everyday and competing for championships in the spring!

Why do you enjoy training at TCC with Robbie ?

I enjoy training with Robbie because he pushes me to be my best every single session and he helps me get a little bit better every time I go to the Chatham club.

What are your favorite exercises and why? 

My favorite exercises are back squats and glute ham raises because I’ve been doing them for a long time and it’s been rewarding to see an improvement.

What is your least favorite exercises and why?

My least favorite exercise is box jumps because I have a hard time landing successfully on the box.

Have you seen any improvements in your strength, agility, speed and confidence to your training?

I have seen a lot of improvements across the board from training with Robbie. He has helped me get stronger, faster, and taught me how to change direction more efficiently when running. He also has taught me how to be mentally tough and push myself to get better in the weight room.

What are goals for this year?

My goals for this year are to become more explosive in my movements and focus on injury prevention.

What is one of the quotes that you live by and why?

“Pain is weakness leaving the body.” I like this quote because I think it helps to adopt a strong mindset.
