Athlete of the Month – Jacqueline Reid

Congratulations to Jacqueline Reid, our Athlete of the Month for December!

1). How long have you been training with Robbie?

I have been training with Robbie for almost two years in January.

2) What sport do you play, where, what position?

I am a junior and I run track and field at Parsippany high school. I am a sprinter, hurdler, and a long jumper.

3). What is your favorite thing about playing a high school sport?

One of the best things about running track with my teammates at ParHigh is the positive energy my teammates bring everyday to practice and even throughout the school day. We all have such a great camaraderie and it translates from the field to the classroom.

4). Why do you enjoy training at TCC with Robbie?

I love training at TCC with Robbie because he exhibits a goal driven and positive attitude whenever you are training with him. He also sets very high but achievable goals, and his training helps me have confidence when playing my sport.

5). What are your favorite exercises and why?

Some of my favorite exercises are band box squats and glute ham raises. This is because I’ve seen a dramatic improvement on form and power since I started training with Robbie. Arm swings are pretty significant and helpful too.

6). What is your least favorite exercise and why?

My least favorite exercises are DEFINITELY power runner and probably the three types of cleans I do. Even though they help me tremendously, I despise power runners because you need to use a lot of strength – despite the challenging position of your body. I’m also not a fan of the three types of cleans because I always forget which is which.

7). Have you seen any improvements in your strength, agility, speed and confidence to your training?

I have seen tremendous improvement in my strength, agility, speed, and confidence from training at The Chatham Club. I am showing up differently for my events such as gradually dropping times, progressively increasing feet movement, growing a stronger mindset, and more.

8). What are your goals for this year?

Some of my physical goals this year are to become a state champion for one or two of my events. A mental goal I have is to improve my overall mindset for the track seasons.

9). What is one of the quotes that you live by and why?

One quote I repeatedly say to myself is the verse Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. I am always saying this to remind myself of where I started in this sport, where I currently am, and the endless possibilities that can come my way the harder I work and the more trust I put in God.
