The Chatham Club is incredibly proud of two of our student-athletes that participate in our Sports Performance Training Program under SPT Director, Robbie Arnold. We reached out to Zander Rhodes and Chase Emmer to learn more about their recent success at the Fencing Junior World Championships!
Zander traveled to Doha, Qatar where she qualified for the Olympics during the Senior Grand Prix. Shortly thereafter, she went to the Junior World Championships in Cairo, Egypt. Zander placed 2nd in the Junior (under 20 years old) Women’s Foil Team!! Chase went to Cairo and placed 3rd in Cadet (under 16 years old) Men’s Foil individual!!
Zander and Chase have both been on the US National Team for 3 years, starting in 2019. Zander made the Cadet team in 2019 and 2020 and the Junior team in 2020 and 2021. Chase has been on the Cadet Team since 2019.
The World Championships represents the end of the season so they do not have any more international competitions until October, however both athletes are looking forward to a few National tournaments in May and June.
Both Zander and Chase love training with Robbie! Zander said, “I like that he organized our workout to best suit our needs in our sport specifically and I like that he always challenges us while also having fun.” The feeling is mutual as SPT Director Robbie Arnold said, “I truly enjoy training Chase and Zander because they work hard but most of all they are having fun as they working together and competing against one another. They are fun to be around with and it makes my job easier.”
Way to go, Chase and Zander! We are so proud of you & your accomplishments!
