Laurie has been a member of The Chatham Club for 20 years. She visited the Club when she moved here from South Jersey 20 years ago. Laurie loved that it was convenient to get to and had a nice, inviting atmosphere. This was the move she needed to get her fitness level and mental state to where she wanted it to be. In addition to improving her cardiovascular and muscular strength, Laurie has noticed a rise in her confidence levels and, most importantly, a stronger mental state! She now has an awesome “can do” attitude with everything in front of her.
What are some of your favorite things about the club?
I still love the feeling when I enter the Club. It has a clean spa feeling with a gym vibe. I love the locker rooms and all the great equipment!
What do you enjoy about personal training?
I’ve been training with Frank for ten years now, and he always makes it fun. I never have that “have to workout” feeling, but Frank’s training sessions are very motivating and a great workout. He makes me do things I wouldn’t do on my own, and it keeps me accountable and on track.
What are some of your favorite exercises/classes?
I love doing the outside classes and working out outside. There are no bad classes here. The Boot Camp classes are my favorites, and I also enjoy the yoga classes for a change of pace. I probably enjoy doing lower body exercises the most because of the strength they give me.
What are your least favorite exercises?
I am not a big fan of Waiter Walks, the Farmer Carry, and the Suitcase Carry. I don’t particularly like doing ab exercises either.
What do you like doing outside of the club?
I enjoy anything outdoors! I love the beach, reading, and doing fun stuff with family and friends.
What upcoming goals do you have?
Well, I’ve done the Angels Landing in the past, and my trainer is pushing me to do the Half Dome hike in Yosemite, so that’s on my radar. I’d also like to get back to running and do another half marathon.
