Q: How long have you been a dancer/Zumba instructor?
A: Dancing has always been a part of my life since I was a little girl. I started with ballet, tap and jazz. As I got older I was part of my schools cheerleading/ dance teams. In college I started teaching step and high/ low aerobics classes. I took a break from dancing when we started our family, but as our boys got older I was able to get back to the gym and Zumba was just starting. I fell in love with it instantly.
Q: Where did your passion for fitness come from?
A: My Dad was always very active and he impressed upon me a love for exercise.
Q: How has the transition to teaching on Zoom (from far away) been?
A: Once the pandemic started and the gyms closed I started teaching on Zoom to keep us all moving and to stay healthy. It was hard for me in the beginning because I’m not really comfortable in front of the camera. But it got easier with time and practice. So transitioning back to teaching on Zoom wasn’t so foreign to me. I’m so grateful to be able to continue to teach and dance with the members that have become like family to me.
Q: What is your favorite Zumba dance/routine?
A: I don’t think I can pick just one favorite Zumba dance routine……but at the moment I’m really loving Ten Cuidado.
Q: What is your favorite post (or pre!) workout snack/meal?
A: Always love some nuts and a piece of fruit.
Q: What is your guilty pleasure food?
A: I always look forward to a good margarita!
Q: Favorite brand of workout gear/clothing?
A: I’m not one to spend a lot of money on workout gear…why would I spend a lot of money on something I’m going to get really sweaty. Old Navy has some great deals.
Q: Favorite music to listen to when exercising?
A: Anything that has a good upbeat rhythm.
Q: What are your goals (if any..not necessary) for 2021?
A: Just keep working on getting stronger. Especially after two hip replacements.
Q: What is your favorite thing about The Chatham Club?
A: The people. It has always been a second home.
